Clinical work
Dr. Timler graduated from the Medical Academy of Lodz, Poland in 1994. After becoming a general surgery specialist in 2002, he continued his career advancement earning the title of emergency medicine specialist in 2003.
Starting in 2007, he has served as the head of the Emergency Department of the Nicolaus Copernicus Hospital, Lodz, Poland. As of 2004, Dr. Timler has worked as a flight physician in the Helicopter Medical Emergency Service, Lodz Division.
Research and teaching
Dr. Timler earned his doctorate in medical sciences in 2001, and his postdoctoral academic degree (known in Poland as habilitated doctor of medical sciences) in 2017. Currently, he serves as the chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Disaster Medicine at the Medical University of Lodz.
As of 2003, Dr. Timler has been a member of the Board of the Polish Society for Emergency Medicine. Currently, he is also the President of the Lodz Branch of the Society. Furthermore, he is a member in good standing of the Polish Society of Emergency Medicine and Disaster Medicine, the Association of Polish Surgeons, as well as the European Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery. In addition, he is a member of the Peer Court of the Polish Society of Health Economics.
In 2012 and 2018 Dr. Timler obtained a certificate in “Conducting Clinical Trials under ICH GCP (Good Clinical Practice)”. He was certified as an instructor of the European Trauma Course (ETC) in 2015. His further course work includes, “Aeromedical Crew Resource Management Initial Training”, which was conducted by the EHAC Working Group Aeromedical CRM, 2014.
Organizational work
Dr. Timler completed his post-graduate studies in the field of health care management and medical insurance at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Lodz Medical University in 2010. He is also an elected delegate to the Regional Medical Chamber of Lodz, as well as the chairman of the Committee for Foreign Cooperation. During 2007 he worked as the EMS Coordinator. Dr. Timler was an active participant in the establishment of the Trauma Center located in Nicolaus Copernicus Hospital, Lodz (2010). Additionally, his participation has included the following: the Europass Mobility Project, “Creation of the Training System for the Recently Established Trauma Center”, which was established as part of the ongoing “Lifelong Learning Programme, Leonardo da Vinci” (2011: London, Amsterdam, Oslo, Frankfurt).
Dr. Timler also actively participated in an exchange program coordinated by The European Hospital and Healthcare Federation (HOPE) of Denmark entitled, “The Future of Hospitals and Healthcare” (09.05.2016 – 03.06.2016).
In addition, since 2014 he has been a member of the National Examination Board in the field of emergency medicine.
